Did you know?
Pre-arrival programs across Canada can assist newcomers in preparing to live and work in Canada!
If you have received an invitation letter for pre-arrival services from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), these programs can assist you and your approved family members in many ways.
To make these programs readily available for more immigrants, a new service funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is here to help. Newcomers to Canada can now browse and register for pre-arrival programs on PreArrivalCanada.ca.

But what if you have already registered for a pre-arrival program?
You can still explore available services and register for any programs you are eligible for! You do not have to re-register for any pre-arrival programs you are currently already taking.
For example, you may be registered for a Settlement program but not an Employment program.
In Canada, there are 3 categories for pre-arrival programs. Programs in each category serve different purposes and areas across Canada:

Settlement Pre-Arrival Programs – Prepare to live in Canada
Settlement programs help you get information on how to move, live and adjust to your new life in Canada. The program will assess your needs and create a personalized plan to help you settle in Canada. They will also connect you with programs and services that can continue to help after you arrive in Canada. There are two settlement pre-arrival programs available on PreArrivalCanada.ca

Employment Pre-Arrival Programs – Prepare to work in Canada
General Employment programs can help you prepare to look for and obtain work in Canada. They can help you:
  • search for and find employment
  • write your Canadian-style resume
  • learn about Canadian workplace culture
  • find a mentor with experience
  • prepare to get your credentials recognized
There are 3 General Employment Programs available on PreArrivalCanada.ca

Industry-Specific Employment – Prepare to work in your trained field
Industry-specific programs are similar to General Employment programs but require you to be trained, educated, or certified in a specific industry. You should only register for Industry-Specific programs if you meet the program’s eligibility requirements. If unsure, you can register for a General Employment program and inquire if an industry-specific pre-arrival program is suitable.
There are up to 5 pre-arrival programs available on PreArrivalCanada.ca

Pre-Arrival Programs – What’s next after a pre-arrival letter?
So, what is the next step after receiving a letter for pre-arrival programs and services from the IRCC? To register for pre-arrival programs, visit PreArrivalCanada.ca, and confirm your eligibility. In a few easy steps, you can explore the available programs and register for the programs that suit your needs!

Remember: Registering for pre-arrival services requires time and commitment to succeed. We recommend registering for the programs that best suit your needs and availability. If you have the time for more services at a later date, you can request information on more programs after your registration. Pre-arrival programs and services are only available to newcomers who currently live outside of Canada.
